Document Summary

There is an overabundance of information in the world. New discoveries and ever-changing fads mean the information we receive is constantly being altered and updated. In addition to completely new information, currently existing information is constantly changing and improving. The quality of information is hard to evaluate, with opinion overwhelmingly usurping genuine and confirmed knowledge. Deciding what is a valid source poses a problem. The line between genuine, verified truths and suggestive, implied falsehoods is purposefully blurred in pervasive advertising. This makes it easy to misutilize information. We want to form beliefs on best and most reliable information. We want our decisions to be based on how the world really is. Thus, we need a way to filter out the bad information and focus on the good information. But our innate processes are not well-equipped enough to do this effectively. Our educational system is largely failing to provide the tools to do that.
