Intrinsic rewards satisfaction a person receives from performing the particular task itself: better off in the long run ex) self-satisfaction. Content perspectives theories that emphasize the needs that motivate people. Needs - physiological or psychological deficiencies that arouse behavior. Self-determination theory assumes people are driven to try to grow & attain fulfillment, influenced by: competence, autonomy, & relatedness. Two-factor theory proposed that work satisfaction & dissatisfaction arise from two factors: hygiene factors & motivating factors. Hygiene factors necessary for people to be happy, but not motivational: what will make my people dissatisfied? ex) pay & security, working conditions, interpersonal relationships, etc. Motivating factors factors which affect the job content or the rewards of work performance: what will make my people satisfied? ex) achievement, recognition, the work itself, advancement, etc.
