The french revolution: background, war and finance. Problem for france is: monarch by 1787 is not a strong king, louis. Xv and xvi the system will run during his lifetime but after him, the flood. He had a difficult childhood, on the run, divided. Maria antoinette and louis xvi don"t have the personality to have the system go. Peasants want land, middle class is tired of paying tax, nobility is tired of being frozen out. Bad harvest, bread prices go up, everyone is failing: the absolutist bargain collapses. Goes to nobility and asks if he can tax them. Goes to highest court, looks like parliament. You have to summon the estates general, last time it met was 1614. Finally, 1788, summons the estates general: from financial crisis to revolution, 1789, calling the estates general. There is a problem: the biggest is the number of representatives.
