Extinction= when the uds (food) no longer follows the presentation of the cs (tone) the cr (salvation) starts to decrease and at some point completely dies out . The reappearance of an extinguished cr (in a weaker form) when organism is exposed to the original cs after a rest period. If cs persists alone the cr becomes extinct again. Stimulus generalization- tendency to respond to stimuli that are similar to the original cs with the cr. So what we learn in one specific situation or with one specific stimulus carries over, or transfers, to a different situation or stimulus. The more similar the new stimulus is to the original cs, the greater the likelihood of generalization. Stimulus discrimination occurs when an organism that has learned a response to a specific stimulus does not respond in the same way to new stimuli that are similar in the original stimulus.
