Document Summary
Average longevity- age at which half the individuals born in a particular year will have died. Maximum longevity- oldest age to which any individual of a species lives. What is the difference between active life expectancy and dependent life expectancy. Active - more likely going to live for longer. Dependent- relies on others to help take care of them. Health is a lifelong process: bio genetic and cultural environment interaction. Health is maintained by the action or inaction of healthy behaviors. Healthy is multi dimensional across a lifespan: biophysiological, cognitive, social. Health- state of complete physical, mental, and social well being and not just the absence of disease or impairment. Illness- presence of a physical or mental disease or impairment. We want to have long healthy lives, but we are increasingly likely to live with one or more chronic health issues as we age. And a bit of luck (no car crash etc)
