Addiction = meeting the criteria for a substance use disorder. Alcohol use disorder = time development of drinking above recommended amounts on a daily or weekly basis. At-risk use & risky use = use of substance that places the person at risk for physical, psychological, or social harm who does not meet the criteria for substance use disorder at risk for adverse consequences. Binge drinking & heavy episodic drinking = consuming ve or more drinks for a man or four or more drinks for a woman at a single decision. Blood alcohol concentration (bac) = amount of alcohol contained in a persons blood and measured as weight per unit of volume. Duration = how long over lifetime has substance been used. Environmental tobacco smoke = involuntary or passive smoking that affects the environment. Harmful use = use that associated with harm to the individual, family, and/or community. Heavy drinking = drinking more than the recommend limits, and episode heavy drinking.
