Occurs when the rate of uid accumulation overcomes the rate of uid removal increased capillary pressure (chf) increased capillary permeability (in ammation) decreased colloidal pressure. Hydrothorax - accumulation of serous uid most common cause of chf. Chlyothorax - accumulation of lymph from the gi tract n the pleural spaces most common in cancer patients. Occurs from injury, malignancies, aortic aneurysm, or chest surgery.
