Blackmore: ch 7 (p 102-105), ch 8 (p 117-124) An inner agent who carries our actions and makes decisions, a unique personality, and the source of desres, opinions, hopes and fears. This is true - some kind of continuous self that is subject of my experiences, makes decisions and so on. It seems this way but there is no underlying continuous and unitary self: has to be explained some other way, derek parfit describes these as ego and bundle theories. Treatise of human nature: we"re nothing but a bundle/collection of different perceptions which succeed each other with inconceivable rapidity and are in perceptual flux and movement. Ideas unpopular: denial of delf was countered by common - sense approach of thomas. The reason each of us feels like a continuous, unified self = because we are: have ever-changing experiences in lives - bc there is an inner self who experiences all these different things.
