Netflix is a linear business and not a platform: platform design, about understanding and creating the whole business and how it will create value for and build a network. In 21st century, the supply chain is no longer the central aggregator of business value. What a company owns matters less than what it can connect: old model, scale a result of investing in and growing a business"s internal resources. Facebook: only the tip of the iceberg, four of the top five members of forbes"s list of most valuable brands were platform companies - so were 11 of the top 20.
