Gas industry would dispute this by siting the difference b/t correlation and causation, lack of long-term research, other factors-> but the researchers controlled for this. Ecological fallacy- taking what"s true for an entire county in reference to asthma rates, and applying those to an individual. Aspects of an ecosystem structure and function that have economic, social, or cultural value. Ex) pollination, flood control, purification of air and water, pest control, seed dispersal, generation of soil fertility. Valuating ecosystem services (square pegs and round holes?) Certification schemes: the idea that a 3rd party can identify that something is grown without pesticides so the consumer believes it. Food miles": labeling fruits/veggies miles transported from source. Can be misleading, depends on production and transportation methods. Mandated and environmental impact statement (eis) for any major development project by a public agency.
