Pros - it"s some sort of sentence, better than nothing but not as severe as jail time. Cons - people don"t take it seriously, a lot of retail thieves know how much to steal to not get actual jail time. Pros - can help offenders with addiction problems and addresses drug issues. Cons - it"s expensive, it"s hard to stick to the programs when they"re let back into the real world parole. Pros - gives the opportunity for offenders to be released early with good behavior. Cons - almost anyone can be let out for good behavior, the parole board dictates who is let out and who isn"t. Pros - gives nancial compensation to the victims, state gets money. Cons - a lot of people can"t afford those fees, rehabilitation v incarceration. Pros - rehabilitation - they become a productive member of society.
