It began with the folly of anything goes plowing and ended with the wisdom of soil conservation. The prayer to deliver us from evil was answered on the battlefield and the farm: describe land settlement in the great plow-up in the 1920s. New settlers and suitcase farmers (land speculators) and tenant farmers bought the land. Tenant farmers farmed on the land owned by land speculators. There was soil erosion on a vast scale on the great plains from texas through the prairie provinces of canada.
