Whether it"s a person, a group, a set, etc. Ie. every individual thinks they are right, we think we"re right, they think they"re right. Majority rule is not always necessary the rule, but the us gives minority rights (not necessarily something that exists everywhere else: list of rights and individuals protected under those rights is expanding. Government in the us has multiple levels (as well as most governments) Equity: matches the people who pay(taxes, fees, etc ) with the people who benefit. Participation: match up the people who are going to be affected by a decision with the people who make (or have the opportunity to make) that decision. Protection against tyranny: the us stands up against tyranny (against british parliament) It"s almost impossible for a small group (or one political party) to gain control of the entire country.
