Document Summary

An enzyme mounted on the surface fat (and some other cells) that hydrolyzes triglycerides in the blood into fatty acids and glycerol for absorption in the cells. The more you have it, the more active it is, the better you are at storing fat. Small variance but can make it difficult to lose weight or keep it off. Control appetite in the brain by suppressing it. Low leptin = higher appetite = more prone to becoming fat. Only matters if you don"t have enough of it. When energy intake exceeds expenditure, fat cells increase in size. When fat cells have enlarged and energy intake continues to exceed energy expenditure, fat cells increase in number again. With fat loss, the size of the fat cell shrinks, but not the number. If lifestyle changes and you lose weight, your body will adjust to being overweight again like you were born. Prof doesn"t really agree . basal metabolic rate can be increased.
