Rape vs sexual assault: rape defined as unwanted penetration, whether that is oral, anal, or vaginal, sexual assault refers to any unwanted sexual contact, including fondling and molestation. At 9:30pm on saturday, october 24, 2009, a 15 year old high school student attending a homecoming dance was invited to join a group of males ages 15-24 to drink alcohol in a dark courtyard on campus. The victim drank brandy and when propositioned for sex, she refused. She was then placed on a nearby concreate bench and continuously beaten and raped for 2 hours, at times with a foreign object. As many as 20 witnesses were believed to be aware of the attack.
