Standpoint -- a position from which you view the world -- your exact experiences. Difference in social, economic, and symbolic experiences cause different standpoints. Ex: single parent home, being raised by grandparents, interracial families, a family"s religious affiliation, multi-generational households, having a lgbtq sibling/parents, being raised in the country and. the city, etc. Boys and girls socialize differently because they have a different set of rules, norms, goals, and meaning in their social experiences. Ultimately, we teach boys and girls differently -- we tell them different things, give them different toys to play with when their young, etc. Communibiological approach -- some temperaments and traits are genetics. Video -- twins separated at birth and then reunited 35 years later. They were raised very differently (in very different environments) yet they shared many similarities. Biology vs. conscious beliefs about the attributes of women and men.
