Participants rated the personalities of people based on their online profiles. Ratings were compared to the results of personality questionnaires. People were able to get an accurate read on a person"s personality based on their fb profile. Personality: your unique constellation of consistent behavioral traits. Consistency: behaving mostly the same way across a variety of situations. Distinctiveness: behaving differently from others who are in the same situation. Ex: how you act at a party. Ex: after drinking at a party, you become extroverted. According to the five-factor model, personality can be summarized with 5 core traits. All of us, to some degree, have some one of these traits. Openness to experience: curious, flexible, creative, unconventional. People will give high accuracy ratings to descriptions of their personality that supposedly are tailored for them, but are in fact vague and general enough to apply to a wide range of people.
