Ride on equipment: stable ride-on propelled by pushing feet. Varying abilities and interests, developmental rates continue to vary. Cultural and experiential appropriateness of materials a priority, as play supports their developing understanding of themselves and the world around them. Continue to enjoy appropriate levels of challenge/mastery, problem-solving. Better developed representation skills, more complex pretend interests. Focus on social play: group play, peer interaction. Social and dramatic play: well secured mirrors, hand mirrors, dolls with clothing, different ethnicities and abilities, gender-neutral roles, dress-up, play scenes, puppets, stuffed animals, animal family: mommy, daddy, baby, people family: brother, sister. Exploration and mastery: sand/water play: water mills, pouring, measuring, blocks/construction: build on number and size of blocks, puzzles: increase to 12 pieces, still may need knobs, 10-piece stacking, pounding/hammering toys, shape sorters, matching games, sensory play.
