Toxins will be removed, enzymes will break things down, a safety thing: most drugs go right to the liver. 50-60% are taken out at the first pass: ph - acidic, breaks things down, enteric, codings to protect things in your intestinal system, a hard coating over the drugs. The coating is slowly eaten away by the acid. Some peptides are taken that way as well.
