Zoning law is controlled by the local government: city, town, county, or village. Elected officials vote on the plan for that area. The government cannot take your property without just compensation. Eminent domain: the government cannot take your property without paying a fair price, you don"t like the price or the fact that they"re taking your land, you can go to court and fight against it. You own your property and you have the right to protect it. Economic goals: competition between areas to get business, all want companies to move in b/c it helps with the tax rates and don"t have to raise money for taxes or worry about unemployment, foreclosing homes. In their inventory of land available- they have a certain area of land reserved for businesses- making it easier for businesses to move in and come in with the jobs and tax money.
