Document Summary

Professor office hours: 4-5:30 p. m. light engineering rm. Audio is the electronic representation of sound. Represented as signal or a function by mathematicians. Period is the most fundamental property of sine wave. Period is time it takes to get from one point to another. Any signal can be broken down into a linear combo of waves called fourier series (named after joseph fourier) The signal would be an infinite sum, but can be approximated with limited sine waves; a series component is called a harmonic, and each h represents a frequency. Square waves are formed when a wave reaches a peak or dip to form an equal square above and below the x-axis. The more harmonics added onto a wave, the more a sin wave can form a square wave. Audio can exist on time and frequency domains. In the time domain, the signal can be viewed as a function of time.
