ASTR 107 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Xerostomia, Diaphragmatic Breathing
Document Summary
Nausea, feeling as if you"re going to (cid:271)e si(cid:272)k (cid:271)efore giving a spee(cid:272)h or presentation. When you are nervous your body will need something to run off of. Eat food, avoid carbs (empty calories) and sugary foods that may make you jittery. Work out your jitters, run in place or shake it out (literally)- the feeling of movement to get it out of your system with help your body relax. Make your topic clear and short for starting out your speech. Write an outline: mark out your introduction, each point or body of the spee(cid:272)h you"d like to talk a(cid:271)out, and your conclusion. Highlight the key aspects of your speech and bullet points for what they include on a note card. Practice, practice, practice- sounds simple but the more you practice (and practice in front of people) the more you can control your anxiety about speaking.
