Telos- good of something, purpose, end, good- final cause of an activity. Every activity we engage on has some kind of structure. Executional order and (intentional order- purpose is built into anything that you"re doing) The first of all causes is the final cause. Taking notes causes you to graduate but it"s also true to say graduation causes you to take notes. The ultimate telos is happiness- the first telos of any activity since we are happiness seeking being. Happiness is the target- said by aristotle. We always knew that happiness is important to us but aristotle is showing us that everything we talk about in ethics, he is focused on the kind of person and the kind of life we project on ourselves. Human act is one that is directed at some good. Formal/structural account- happiness is: non-netential, self sufficient. Relationship between virtue and happiness- aristotle thinks that there are people who are unhappy.
