His equations were so good that he can calculate the location of the objects in whichever year he wants. Ptolemaic universe: believed earth to be in the center & heaven layer outside the circle - where you join w/ god after you die. Ptolemy"s equation was, but wondered why god"s solar system calculations would be so clumsy.
