Brown v board of education of topeka, kansas (1954) Montgomery bus boycotts (1955)- organized by locals (members of naacp, ladies organizations, etc) to protest segregation by refusing to purchase bus tickets economic demonstration. Rosa parks knew what she was doing, it was planned. She actually didn"t do it, she was just the face of it because she was older. Judicial branch: browder v gayle 1956, said that bus segregation was unconstitutional. Leads to the formation of south christian leadership council (sclc) Brown v board of education (ii): all deliberate speed (1955) Resistance is so widespread that all gains must be the result of a consolidated effort- leads to increased public activism.
