Document Summary

Cytokinesis: the division of the cell cytoplasm. Contractile ring composed of microfilaments of actin and myosin forms on the inside of the cell and pinches the cell in 2 daughter cells. Process by which the actin-myosin ring constricts all the way and pinches the plasma membrane thus separating 1 cell into 2 cells. Have cell walls therefore splitting the cytoplasm must be accompanied by the formation of a new cell wall. Vesicles derived from the golgi are transported midway between the 2 daughter cells. The contents of their vesicles are used to mke the new cell wall and the membranes of the vesicles are used to make the new plasma membrane. Some cells divide without undergoing cytokinesis, they become. N denotes the number of homolog chromosomes present in a cell. Human somatic cells are diploid (2n) because they contain 2 homologs of each. Several organism including yeast, molds and ferns, have mature haploid chromosome organisms.
