To introduce main texts of jci traditions. To map the relationship between hermeneutics, scripture, and community. To understand how the interpretation of scripture works. Tanakh refers to the differentiation between the different books: the law (pentateuch, or the torah, the prophets (early prophets, the prophets (late prophets, the writings (ketubim) Pentateuch is the hebrew torah, the first few books of the bible. Old testament god is a mean angry god, accepts killing animals: needs to find solutions for these conundrums. Important exercise: find the story of abraham and the sacrifice of his son in the hebrew.
