Love desires beauty = love lacks beauty (so there must be a middle path between desire and lacking) Ignorance correct judgement - knowledge/wisdom: if eros lacks beauty he isn"t immortal (all gods are beautiful, but he"s clearly not mortal, (cid:498)everything spiritual is clearly not mortal(cid:499) Mortal + immortal: communicates between the human and the divine, born of poverty + resource, neither wealthy nor without resources, neither beautiful nor ugly, neither wise nor ignorant, conclusion: eros is a philosopher. If eros is not a philosopher he wouldn"t even know about it. Humans can conceive through body _ soul. (intelligible) Form of beauty itself (platonic love) (final thing to see) Different kinds of beauty (the vast seas of beauty) ^this is a ladder, one rung becomes increasingly difficult to rise and to see the beauty of not only the physical, but eventually concept of beauty. Eros drives us all the way up, the motive/motor that lures us up the ladder.
