Education may affect health/mortality for many reasons: Different types of jobs with different levels of risk or health insurance change habits or preferences. Current or future health may affect incentives for education. In developing countries, link between demography, child health and education. Statistical difficulty: unobserved factors may be correlated with incentives for both health investments and education. Health and education imply long term investment low discount rate. Same as in education, ability is linked with many factors for good health (information for instance) With h is a health measure, s is number of years of schooling and x some control variables: parent"s characteristics, health endowment, individual characteristics Without income, we have the total effect of education on income, income effect included. Beyond 10 years = higher education (drops b/c ppl who are highly educated are less likely to smoke) Study the impact of education on birth outcome of the child; Birth outcome are: birth weight, preterm birth, gestation age.
