All women will experience violence; but the threat of violence is an important part of daily life for all women. Being born female is dangerous for your health . Status of women is directly linked to violence against women. 1 in 4 possibly as high as 1 in 3 or even 50% of all relationships have domestic violence. 80-90% of san diego domestic violence reports: the male is the aggressor, female is victim. 45% of all san diego police 911 calls are for domestic violence. 77% of completed rapes are committed by someone the victim knows. Studies indicate that between 16 and 28 percent of rapes are reported. Sexual assault is common, 1 in 4 women will be a victim of sexual assault in their lifetime. Psychological abuse may be equally as traumatic as physical abuse.
