Document Summary

Genes: hereditary factors: found on chromosomes, location of particular gene can be found with uorescent dyes that highlights. Chromosome theory of inheritance: mendelian genes have speci c locations (loci) on chromosomes, chromosomes undergo segregation and independent assortment, during meiosis, the way chromosomes behave account for laws of segregation and independent assortment. Chromosomal basis of laws: f1 generation. Law of segregation: two alleles for each gene separate, the r and r alleles segregate at anaphase i makes two daughter cells. Law of independent assortment: alleles of genes on non homologous chromosomes assort and separate independent, alleles at both loci segregate during anaphase i makes four daughter cells, f2 generation. As a result of law of seg: fertilization recombines the r and r alleles at random. As a result of law of ind: fertilization results in the 9:3:3:1 phenotypic ratio. Came up with solid evidence associating speci c gene with a speci c chromosome.
