However, there was no torpedo and knew at the time, they had the resolution drafted to find an excuse. 1968 - vietnam was able to attack u. s. embassy and the u. s. military, simultaneously on that day. Vietcong had the ability to attack anywhere they wanted. Shows the failure of the u. s. intelligence due to being attacked in many places. Made the american people more against the vietnam war. 1973 - troops got pulled out of vietnam.
