Definition of communication: a complex, ongoing interactive process that forms the basis for building interpersonal relationships (aacn, 1998, p. 10). Communication is a process of interaction between people where symbols are used to create, exchange, and interpret messages about ideas, emotions and mind states. All communication is symbols from spoken and written words, to body language to voice tone and pitch.
