Single most important thing is matting to pas on genes. Sexual selections: same sex completion males fight for females, how one sex mates itself attractive to get mating partners. If men and women have such different wants. Amount of commitment to having and raising a child is linked to sex. The sex that has to make the most investment (gestation, raising) will more choosey when picking a mate. The less invested the less commitment, more mates because no time commitment. An example, one of few species where the female deposits the eggs into the males and the males makes the baby = larger degree of parental investment. The males are more discriminate, the females don"t care who the male is and just want to give her eggs away, the male will be choosey. Once child is born make sure the mate is there and provide resources. Child does not develop in them, small natural consequences.
