Arguments of the legalization of prostitution: pro-legalization. No different from others who sell their bodies legally (ie modelling or athletes) Legalization more tax revenue for the state: anti-legalization. Legislation signals that the state is saying it is morally acceptable. It is not a consensual crime as females are driven to it by sexual abuse, poverty, traffickers, and pimps. Legalization sweeps these causes of prostitution under the rug: perpetuates sexual exploitation. Some have argued for the decriminalization of prostitution: arrest clients, pimps & traffickers, do not arrest the prostitutes, put prostitutes into shelters or help to reshape their life. Some feminists have argued that pornography is also a crime w/victims (child porn, revenge porn: have also acted like moral entrepreneurs in trying to get cj system to crack down on pornographers. Additional problems with labelling theory: 7. Parts of labelling theory are extremely deterministic (hypocritical) No place for human agency: 8. Deviants do not always self-label; some resist societal labeling.
