When one is the victim of a street crime:
- Violent victimization can result in injury or death
- Property crime victimization can result in loss of property or money
Hence Americans fear street criminals
UCR says that street criminals are mostly low income & minorities
Crimes which result in the greatest injury, death, and loss of property are more likely to be
committed by the affluent and the powerful these crimes are while collar & corporate crimes
Estimated annual # of deaths from street crime vs. white collar crime
