Sage : the sage or wise is the ideal personality; however, it is very hard to become one of them. Confucius created the model of junzi , gentleman, which may be achieved by any individual. There are many characteristics of the junzi : he may live in poverty, he does more and speaks less, he is loyal, obedient and knowledgeable, and disciplines himself. Kongzi suggested that by returning to the way or principle of heaven and the ancient sages, sociopolitical and moral chaos could be ameliorated and justice restored. According to konzi, a man should strive to become a junzi or highest level of confucian perfection. Rulers of various feudal states would invite sages to advise on governance and policy. Enlightened person, spiritually immortal; transcendent; super-human; celestial being. The way of these institutionalized daoist schools was primarily concerned with how to become xian, an immortal or transcendent.
