Document Summary

Lecture 23 executive function & lateralization of function/anatomy. How is it different from the tower of hanoi? they test the ability to form strategies and problem solve (they can"t handle chains of errands very well); they fail at both. People with loss of divergent thinking = unable to properly form strategies and are poor problem solves. Stroop task: subject"s ability to inhibit correct response (reading the color red) Subject"s ability to determine risk/penalties (card game with low risk/low rewards vs. high risk/high rewards) Psudeopsychopathy: appears after lesions of the right frontal lobe immature behavior lack of tact and restraint increased sexual behavior, coarse language, lack of social graces, increased motor activity. Pseudodepression: appears after lesions of the left frontal lobe, outward apathy, indifference, loss of initiative reduced sexual interest, little or no verbal output. Cerebral asymmetry: anatomical or functional hemispheric specialization and lateralization of function. Hemispheric specialization: different parts of the brain are responsible for different functions, very similar.
