Goal: what the basic problem of the perception is how difficult it is (because it takes in the brain why is it so difficult) The sense that we have is that when i open my eyes, i see the world -it"s pretty simple, takes not time, it"s right there. Take coffee, grind, pour hot water, stir, etc Q2- we can provide a list of steps; a recipe (or algorithm ) if you go through all of these steps, you would have achieved your goal (cup of coffee). Q1- appears to be immediate and effortless (it appears, but it is actually not) Vision is deceptively hard: artificial intelligence: chess vs. object recognition. A. i can beat anyone in chess, but it cannot recognize objects. Something about our vision is not easy: over 1/3 of cortex in monkey and humans is involved in visual perception.
