Put them in a room with a person who was angry and then asked them how they felt. Each emotion reflects an interpretation of autonomic arousal based on what we know of the situation. We try to come up with reasons for why we feel a certain way. Ex. when we are in a bad mood, we try to figure out why we feel this way. Basic emotions should emerge early in life without requiring much experience.
