Document Summary
Cognitive neuroscience techniques and modularity in the brain: Techniques used to measure the brain during various cognitive and perceptual tasks, and we will discuss the idea of functional modularity in the brain. Hemispheres are broken up into two parts, left and right. Left hemisphere= processes reading, writing, speaking, math and comprehension skills: usually dominate of language and communication, analytic and sequential. Right hemisphere= predominantly activated during perceptual and spatial tasks: dominate in spatial processing and orientation, holistic, emotional and spatial. Cerebral dominance- tendency of each brain hemisphere to exert control over different functions. Broca"s area is only present on the left side of the cortex. Based at the motor strip in the frontal lobe. Highlighted for speech; controls neurons the motor neurons that control the mouth and lips and tongue and jaw those body parts are represented in the base of the motor strip.
