A coward will always cower down to his fear. No control on his inner feelings, and this fear is overwhelming for him to deal with. This leads to life in accord w/ reason. Read and study for whatever you may be interested in. Studying is the gateway to intellectual virtue. Moral virtue; your reasoning leads to action. Habit, or the state is the gateway to moral virtue; what we have. Smoking - first experience is always bad, but do it enough times, and it will eventually be second nature to you. This is what aristotle says about habit; courage cannot be acquired from just studying. It needs to be learned and we need to eventually become more habituated to it.
