Demand for marine foods sources is increasing as a result of an increase in human population. Also, each person is eating more fish (globally) as time goes on. Landings depend on fish availability, amount of fisherman, technology used for fishing, regulations set forth by fisheries: big drops in total landing of fishes occurred during both world. Wars: it was a bad time to be out in the ocean fishing surrounded by navy and submarine fighting: as stocks become depleted, fisherman have to work harder to find the same amount of fish. Types of fish that are targeted change due to demand, markets, economics, availability etc. Myers and worm published a study in nature about long line fishing and the amount of fish caught per hook in many areas.
