Document Summary

Atom are comprised of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Electrons no mass but good for bonding atoms. Electrons bring different atoms together to make molecules. Put them together you get:sio2- basic building block of glass. Sio2+sio2= mineral called quartz- major rock forming mineral of the rocky planets of solar system. If you find a lot of quartz then you going find a lot of silicon and oxygen: Deeper in earth, you get more specific things that make up earth. As you go to surface, you get more variety. As center, you get specific because internal differentation is what mercury, earth, venus, mars has. As planet cools, the material that made up planet segegrated itself based on layers of density. Rocks that make up surface of the earth is silicate. Mineral is a very wide spread substance on planet. Substance that is primary building block for geological materials. Nclis allows us to see which things are mineral.
