Concept: augmented feedback provides information that can facilitate skill learning. Sensory information that is naturally available when performing a skill. What are some sources of task - intrinsic feedback. Performance related information that is added to task- intrinsic feedback. Typically comes from a source external to the person performing the skill. Externally presented information about the outcome of performing a skill or about achieving the goal of the performance. Externally presented information about movement characteristics that led to the performance outcome. The roles of augmented feedback in skill acquisition. Facilities achievement of the action goal of the skill. Motivates the learner to continue striving toward a goal. It may not be necessary for skill learning. It can enhance skill learning beyond what is possible without augmented feedback. Issues related to augmented feedback content: information about errors vs. correct aspects of performance, qualitative vs. quantitative information, augmented feedback based on error size. For every trial (100% frequency) is best for learning.
