Youth of today face many risks and the problems in america have a significant effect on. Some problems that youth face today: poverty, poor health care, little or no parent. Social media is having a huge impact on the youth of today. supervision, poor schools, abuse, and issues of the modern world. Role diffusion - youth face uncertainty and a role is given to them. Juvenile delinquency - criminal behavior by minor who is not emancipated. Juvenile justice system - justice system designed to treat youthful offenders as well as victims and at risk youth. Parens patriae - the power of the government to act on behalf of the youth. Status offender - youth who commits an act forbidden solely because of their age (ex. runaways, curfew violation) Young people who are extremely vulnerable to the negative consequences of school failure, substance abuse, and early sexuality.
