Document Summary
Operating system - the software that makes the computer into a useful device. Instruction execute - the proper term for what processors do. The fetch/execute cycle gets program and data bits from the memory and puts data bits back into the memory. Splash screen - an image that displays before an application starts running, and this one fades in, fades out, and then goes on to the actual app. Software stack - software programs working together in order to achieve a common goal. Instruction fetch - transfers the instruction from memory at the address to the decoder part of the control unit. Instruction decode - the processor is set up for later steps in the cycle, decoder finds the memory addresses of the instruction"s data, the source operands. Data fetch - data values for the two source operands are moved from the memory into the alu.
