To be human is to be in relationship with one another: ipc is how we form and shape our identities, good ipc is a skill set. Employers want to hit people with good communication: ipc is a part of our everyday lives. Develop, maintain, and terminate our relationships using ipc. Nonverbal communication does not equal body language: kinesics = movement, vocalics = voice and silence (most powerful, proxemics = distance we put between ourselves and others. Thursday, january 19, 2017: haptic = touch, appearance and adornment, artifacts and environment cues (ex - going on ur phone while waiting or something, chronemic cues = time. Intentional or unintentional: things we do and stay, even without meaning to, carry meaning. Our behavior must impact another person (or vice vera) to be communication: things unnoticed and unintentional are not communication. Attempted communication: not interpreted, sent with intention. Unattended behavior: not interpreted, sent without intention. Accidental communication; accurately interpreted, sent without intention.
