Evolution- the best way to understand it is to look at darwin evolution. Darwin believed evolution was descent with modification. Can say that all species descend from an ancestral species. Every species is linked in some way because they descend from ancestral species. Invented the scale of nature (the idea that species follow the rungs of a ladder) As you go from bottom of ladder to higher of ladder, you are getting more complex. Believed in creation- and within creation, there was no evolution. But, eventually a part of judeo-christian culture that came about - In this culture, you have a scientist that is interested but this science interest is based on religion. In this state , you still believe in god, but there is a scientific mechanism done. Was a natural philosopher - believed in presence of god and natural theology of the world. 2 names for every species (we still used this today)
