Ancient division of egyptian history into dynasties of pharaohs. Modern division into 3 kingdoms: old, middle, new. Institutions, beliefs and art established in old kingdom. vs. Thursday, 22 september 2016: function: funerary, ensure afterlife of ka, conservative nature of egyptians over 3000 years. Front: large central gure, crown of upper egypt. God: believed later that the pharaoh was son off horus, horus stands on a representation of lower egypt where papyrus grew, horus helps narmer to conquer egypt. Gure: artist would make certain that his work follows these proportions to make the art look strong, frontal shoulders, frontal eye, pro le head, pro le feet.
